News and Updates

February 2022
  • New publication: Cain MR, Woo DK, Kumar P, Keefer L, Ward AS. Antecedent Conditions Control Thresholds of Tile-Runoff Generation and Nitrogen Export in Intensively Managed Landscapes.
  • Officially a Knauss Fellowship alumnus as my year with the NOAA Research's Congressional Affairs team comes to an end. Over the past year I helped to plan and staff NOAA scientists and leadership at ~100 congressional briefings; drafted, reviewed, and edited legislation pertinent to NOAA's labs and programs; worked with subject matter experts to draft numerous written responses to inquiries from congressional offices; and tracked and reported about congressional activities and legislation to NOAA leadership and scientists. I've learned so much about the legislative process, how science is used to inform policy, and how policy and congressional activities, in turn, affect scientific research. I couldn't have asked for a better team to work with!
